Ana de Alba
Ana de Alba is a shareholder at the law firm of Lang, Richert & Patch in Fresno where she specializes in employment litigation. Having a unique practice, Ana represents both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts in employment related matters including wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, Unruh Act violations, wage and hour issues, and cases related to violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination and Employment Act, Family Medical Leave Act, and California Family Rights Act. She also represents clients in adversary proceedings before governmental administrative boards, including, Labor Commissioner, Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Employment Development Department. Ana advises employers on preventing employment relations problems and on developing personnel policies and procedures. Ana is also an “Abogada Consultora” (“Consulting Attorney”) for the Consulate of Mexico in Fresno. Ana is a frequent speaker on issues related to sexual assault/sexual harassment in the workplace and on gender bias in the legal profession.
In 2012, Ana helped to establish a first of its kind monthly Workers’ Rights Clinic in Fresno as a collaborative effort between Central California Legal Services, Inc., Legal Aid At Work, and the Consulate of Mexico in Fresno. Ana currently serves as the Chair of the Fresno County Bar Association – Pro Bono Services Section and is a member of the following boards: California Lawyer’s Association Labor & Employment Section; Central California Access to Justice Coalition; and the State Bar Pro Bono Coordination Committee. Ana has received the following awards for her work in the Central Valley: Fresno County Women Lawyers’ Justice Pauline Hanson Award; California Young Lawyers Association Jack Berman Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession and Public; OneJustice’s Opening Doors to Justice Award; Fresno County Bar Association-Pro Bono Services Section Attorney of the Year; and the UC Berkeley Chicano Latino Alumni Association Public Service Award. Ana received a B.A. with a double major in Spanish and Political Economy of Industrial Society from UC Berkeley in 2002 and her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall, in 2007.
